Here is the exact 4-step roadmap to successfully transition your product from a laboratory concept to a legal, retail-ready reality.

Step 1: Legalize Your Brand (Trademark Registration)

Before a single bottle is filled, you must establish legal ownership of your brand name and logo. This protects your identity from competitors and is a mandatory prerequisite for manufacturing and regulatory approval.

Depending on your business structure, you will need to prepare the following documents:

  • For Individual Applicants: A copy of your Indonesian Identity Card (KTP) or passport/KITAS for foreigners, a clear PNG/PDF image of your trademark logo, a digital signature, and active contact information (email and WhatsApp).

  • For Company Applicants: Deed of Establishment & Ministry Approval, Business License, Business Identification Number (NIB), Tax ID (NPWP), the Director’s KTP/Passport/KITAS, a digital signature, and active contact channels.

Step 2: Sampling and Perfecting Your Packaging

Your packaging doesn’t just protect the formula; it serves as your primary branding tool. During this phase, you will sample and finalize three core elements:

  • Primary Packaging (Bottles/Jars): If you opt for custom packaging from overseas suppliers (e.g., China), expect a Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) starting at 5,000 pcs, giving you full control over size, color, and shape. Custom molds cost around USD 300-500, but if you utilize an overseas supplier’s existing catalog, samples are free (you only cover shipping to our lab). Standard local bottles are also available from Indonesian suppliers.

  • Labels: Custom label sampling fees range between IDR 50,000 and IDR 500,000 depending on the selected material. Crucially, your design must seamlessly comply with BPOM's mandatory Cosmetic Labelling Guidelines.

  • Boxes (Secondary Packaging): Plain structural samples to verify shape and sizing are free of charge. However, testing your custom printed design requires a 30% to 50% down payment based on estimated production costs.

Step 3: Securing Your BPOM Registration

To legally sell cosmetics in Indonesia, your product must be authorized by the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) to guarantee consumer safety.

Once your brand registration application is in motion, the regulatory process proceeds as follows:

  • Authorization Agreement: You will sign two legal documents authorizing PT. Scensory Innovation Lab’s factory to manufacture under your brand name.

  • System Setup: Our team registers your brand within the official BPOM portal.

  • Product Registration: We submit your specific cosmetic formulations to secure your unique BPOM license numbers.

To prevent application delays or rejection, you must provide your final product names (free of vulgar or misleading terms), exact volume variants (e.g., 100ml, 200ml, 500ml), and specific primary and secondary packaging components upfront.

Step 4: Financing and the Production Timeline

With approvals and samples locked in, production officially begins. We operate on a standard industrial payment schedule:

  • 50% Down Payment: Required upfront to initiate procurement for custom packaging and raw materials.

  • 50% Remaining Balance: Settled upon product completion and right before shipment.

Understanding Lead Times: Packaging production generally requires up to 14 business days or longer depending on design complexity. Furthermore, specialty or premium imported raw materials can take 1 to 2 months to procure. Lastly, printed product labels often require waiting for BPOM's approval of the official registration number to embed into your artwork, which must be factored into your launch timeline.

Partnering with an experienced toll manufacturer like PT. Scensory Innovation Lab ensures every step—from legal paperwork to raw material supply chains—is handled under rigid Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
